Syrah

Bird on a Wire Syrah is a single vineyard wine sourced from Yarra Glen. The vines grow in lean, gravelly soils, which enhance the texture and savoury aspects of the fruit.

Handpicked fruit is separated into four parcels. One is kept as whole bunches; another is destemmed but not crushed; the third is crushed but not destemmed; and the last is both destemmed and crushed.

Each parcel ferments separately. The cap of grape skins is managed with plunging and pump overs. Once pressed, the parcels are aged in new and seasoned French oak until blending.

At bottling there is no fining, filtration or acid adjustments.

Deep dark red, Bird on a Wire Syrah is a spicy, generous wine with dark fruit flavours, liquorice characters and fine grained tannins. Cellaring potential is 10 years.
